About the Project
Description and Schedule
Roberts County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 and Mesa Power, LP are proposing a project that will provide much needed options for addressing increasingly critical water supply and power issues in Texas. The project involves acquiring a right-of-way that will contain pipeline and electric transmission infrastructure to transport water and wind-generated electricity from the Texas Panhandle to customers in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and potentially elsewhere.
Detailed facility siting reviews and civil, environmental, and cultural resource surveys are now underway to finalize the proposed ROW route. Once the proposed right-of-way route is finalized by Roberts County Fresh Water Supply District No. 1 and Mesa Power, LP, the purchase of right-of-way will begin. Right-of-way acquisition and project design are expected to take about two years and will include public participation and input. Project construction could begin as early as 2010.
